OAXACA POTTERY

Jose Antonio Garcia creates majestic terra cotta figures inspired by the beauty of Oaxaca, and especially his wife, Dona Teresita Mendoza Reyna Sánchez who is represented in most of his female figures. Despite having lost his sight, Jose continues to work with his wife and children. I had the privilege to photograph them in their home studio and courtyard which is populated withunpainted terra cotta treasures, ranging from small to life size.
